When Things Don't Go According to Plan

I am a planner. I like to straighten out all the details. I like things to go the way that I plan. And life has this habit of getting in the way.

Specifically, this weekend an inattentive driver that ran a red light got in the way. It is one of those things where you sound really ridiculous if you say "I never expected it would happen to me." I mean, of course we don't. That's why they call them "accidents," right? But this one completely blew me away.

Body Positivity Bullshit.

Here's the thing. You know all those things I wrote or share about body positivity? About how our looks shouldn't define our worth and how all people should feel beautiful regardless of their size, sex, gender, ethnicity, or anything else?

Body Policing

I've been thinking about this post for a while. Mostly because I didn't know if I wanted to write and post it or not.

What really prompted me to go ahead and post this was a passing statement written on another blog. I'm not going to name the blog in question as the statement truly seemed to be in passing and I don't want to prompt a flood of comments calling out this person (who happens to be quite well known) on something that was not the main topic of her post and she probably didn't even think about posting.

Peach Pie Perfection (Gluten-Free!)

There are certain areas of the grocery store that I just try to avoid. The top three are: bakery, frozen meals, and the refrigerated biscuit dough section.  It's just easier not to see what I can't or shouldn't have. This conscious avoidance explains why I was the last person to find out that Pillsbury recently released three new gluten-free products! Pillsbury now has gluten-free pizza dough, chocolate chip cookie dough and pastry dough.  I've tried the pizza dough (meh, but worth a second try) and the chocolate chip cookie dough (good, and allowed me to treat myself to my first ice cream sandwich in almost two years). Today was the day to give the pastry dough a try.
