Happy Holidays!

OK, I know, it's a little over enthusiastic for being just the fifth of December. But since it is December, I'm finally allowed to start listening to holiday music (and I figure since Hanukkah starts on December 8, I'm safe). Favorite holiday albums this year are:

"Christmas With The Puppini Sisters" by The Puppini Sisters
Great music, big band jive with a modern twist. Your holiday favorites (new and old) with a retro sound.

"Barenaked for the Holidays" by Barenaked Ladies (BNL)
Love me some BNL, and their holiday album truly rocks. It's spunky, it's different, and it's all-around fun.

"Christmas Portrait" by The Carpenters
Yes, I'm a sucker for the golden oldies. This album is the perfect mix of nostalgia and smooth vocals. (Gosh, that sounded cheesy! But it's true!!)

"The Polar Express" by Alan Silvestri and others
This great soundtrack features loads of your classic holiday favorites (think Bing Crosby, Perry Como, and Kate Smith) as well as some newbies (Steven Tyler, ok not-so-new, Josh Groban) and some beautiful instrumental pieces.

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" by the Vince Guaraldi Trio
Who doesn't love Charlie Brown? This soundtrack is gold. You've got your classic Charlie Brown theme song ("Linus & Lucy"), but some other fantastic piano trio jazz: Thanksgiving Theme, Great Pumpkin Waltz. It's easy listening with a good dose of sentimentality thrown in.

Happy Holidays!
